LAST WEEKEND OUR 2nd XI continued their perfect start to the T20 season with another excellent win, this time over the dangerous Crescent Stars team. Three wins out of three for Ameer Hamza's men and plenty of reasons for optimism in the coming weeks.
The 2nds showed their versatility by opening the bowling with two spinners, and Sazid Khan struck with the first ball of the second over. That early success brought together Hussain Shafaq and Ali Cheema, who combined for a 73 run partnership to move the pressure back to Glenmore. But, the use of spin again did the trick as Dan Paul removed both batsmen is quick succession. He then picked up his third wicket to turn the tide of the match completely. 3 for 30 for Dan, and from then on Crescent Stars couldn't find any momentum. Ahsan Javaid bowled four tight overs and picked up a pair of wickets, and in the end Glenmore restricted the total to a very manageable 147-9.
The run chase got off to a stumble with the dangerous Javaid out early, but the middle order did the business. Salman Akhtar made a useful 26 (18 balls), while Adil Amin smashed his second fifty of the season, ending up unbeaten on 69 from 44 balls.
Congratulations to the 2nds on a great start to the Summer. Best of luck on Sunday against the Avengers.

THINGS DIDN'T go quite so well for the 1st XI as they suffered two tough defeats. Their first 50 over match of the year took place on Saturday against Kings XI. The performance of Navi Parmar was the highlight of the day, with the young quick producing a terrific display to take 7 for 52. A wonderful return and well deserved for all his hard work over the Winter months. Credit also to Tejas Chitre who ended wicketless but only went for 24 from his 10 overs.
Chasing 274 was always likely to be tough, but it became virtually impossible once our top three had all been knocked over for a duck. Three down and 1 run on the board. Anjan Singh (29) and Ankush Jain (43) did their best to find a way back into the game, but it was to no avail and we were eventually all out for 120.
A SECOND chastening defeat followed on Sunday when the 1st XI lost by 36 runs to Can Asia CC. A brutal onslaught by Saad Khan (88 off 47) at the top of the order propelled Can Asia to 183 from their 20 overs. Again, the Glenmore batting order was held together by Anjan (28) and Ankush (46), but the run rate continued to climb while wickets continued to fall. Chris Owens (15), Suki Ghotra (14) and Tejas (24*) did their best to change the course of the game, but it was in vain as the boys were bowled out for 147. A tough game awaits tomorrow against United, but the 1st XI have plenty of talent and can beat anyone on their day. Best of luck fellas.
OUR IN2CRICKET program comes to an end on Sunday morning, and it should be a fantastic session as we are delighted to welcome Canadian international Hamza Tariq. He will be handing out certificates to the kids, signing some autographs and posing for some pictures. We thank Hamza for coming along, and as always, a huge thank you to all the coaches who have done such a terrific job this year.
