Our History and Ethics

Glenmore Cricket Club was founded in 2001 and since its inception has had teams competing within Calgary crickets weekend, weeknight and T20 leagues, winning numerous trophies and accolades along the way. Most recently Glenmore CC won Calgary and District Cricket League’s ‘Most Sportsmanlike Club’ award for the 2019 season. We play to win at the highest levels of the club, but we also try to involve anyone who’s interested joining no matter their age or ability. We pride ourselves on being about enjoyment and participation of the greatest sport in the world!

 
This award is an achievement earned by every member from within the club, both on and off the field, showing what an inclusive and friendly club we are. Glenmore CC are the most diverse club within Calgary with members from all corners of the globe – Australia, Bangladesh, Canada, England, Pakistan, India, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Scotland and New Zealand.

In 2021 we are hoping to have more teams and more members than ever before as the club continues to grow and improve. We'll be entering three teams into the Weekend League, two teams into the T20 competition and three teams into the Weeknight League. This will make us the biggest club in Calgary, as well as the most diverse.

Cricket Development and Promotion in Calgary

The club works tirelessly to help promote cricket in Calgary. Each Summer we participate in Sport Calgary's 'All Sport One Day' event, where the game is on offer to children to try for free throughout the city.

We have had a thriving Junior Cricket Program for many years. This has allowed children as young as 6 to play the sport and learn the basics. For 2020 there will be a Junior Program running in the Spring. Exact dates to be announced so watch this space for exciting news coming soon on this development initiative.

Inclusiveness For The Whole Family

We are a family friendly club, running numerous social events throughout the year. We encourage our members and their families to attend gatherings such as our annual summer barbecue (with fantastic, authentic cuisine from various club members’ home countries), the brain-teasing quiz night to test everyone’s general knowledge, and the much loved family fun day out for some ten pin bowling (strictly no over-arm bowling allowed and you can bowl as wide a ball as you like, let’s get those bumpers up!), Glenmore’s golf day takes place each Summer, where gauntlets of all types get thrown down for a challenge. And not forgetting the much anticipated Annual Awards Gala – a chance to get glammed up and throw on a posh dress (Mr. Club President!) for an evening of great food, reminiscing about the season past and recognizing the best performances on and off the field.

Glenmore Cricket Club run corporate cricket events for businesses, so if you’re looking for a fun and inclusive team building event then look no further.
