Match report The rain stopped the Royals game against Gujarat XI prematurely, but at least enough overs had been bowled to allow a result. And that result was a comfortable win for the Royals. Another strong showing with the bat saw them rack up a sizeable total of 165-7 from their 20 overs. Usama Saeed got things off to a fast start with a 32* from just 17 balls. The innings was given an equally impressive conclusion when Jawwad Qureshi came in at number 10 and smoked 25* from 14 balls! In between times there were good contributions from Fahad Nayyar (20), Gurvinder Ahuja (22) and PJ Deol (13*).

With bad weather around and the chances of getting a full innings looking unlikely, captain Theunis opted to open the bowling with spin to get through as many overs as quickly as possible. Usama had no trouble with the new pink ball and picked up two wickets in his 4 overs. Gurvinder also took 2 poles to mean Gujarat were way behind the run rate. They managed to get through 9.3 overs before the rain smashed down and the game was called off. With the score on 50-4 it meant the Royals had won by 31 runs (D/L).
