Match report After rain washed out the first game of the season, Glenmore T20 team was raring to go. Weather was very pleasant, ground was dry and pitch looked very good for a T20 game. Glenmore won the toss as Cavaliers 2 had only 6 players in the ground. It was later found out that their 7th player was resting in his car in the ground parking lot. They eventually had 11 players in the ground before the start of the match. Hardeep had no problem in deciding that Glenmore was going to bat first.

Glenmore started batting with only 10 players present for the game. Nabeel opened batting with Jaideep. Jaideep got caught out at short fine leg in the second over trying to hit a loose short ball from Hasnain out of the ground. Nabeel was batting well. He hit 2 fours in the same over. Ikbal replaced Jaideep and started his innings with 2 fours and a six. Zain was bowling very well and bowled Nabeel in the 3rd over. Anajan replaced Ikbal and started his innings cautiously. Zain was bowing his last over (7th over of the innings), when Ikbal tried to take him on and tried his big shots but couldn’t connect. Zain bowled a slow yorker (similar to what he bowled to Nabeel), Ikbal swung hard and missed. He was bowled and glenmore was 3 down for 44 runs in the 7th over.

Hardeep went in to join Anjan. He played Zain cautiously and Zain’s brilliant spell ended. Hardeep and Anjan played the next over carefully, making sure Glenmore don’t loose another wicket. Things changed in the 9th over when Arnav started his left arm spin spell. Hardeep hit his first ball for a six over mid on and second for a four over midwicket. These first two balls started the carnage. Arnav conceded 17 runs in his first over. Anjan was in his usual flow and looked very good. He treated the ball on its merit, hitting the loose balls hard and long while respecting good balls. They batted brilliantly till the 16th over when Anjan got out trying to hit a surprise full toss from Ali into the hands of short midwicket.

Karan came in to bat and tried to take singles to give strike to Hardeep. He was run out in an unlucky fashion in the next over when a throw from Zain spilled out of the hands of the bowler and hit the stumps. Manji Joined Hardeep and batted in his usual carefree manner scoring 15 in 8 balls. Hardeep hit Ali for 22 runs in the last over with 3 long sixes. He ended up with 92 runs off 38 balls and Glenmore reached 200.

Cavs 2 never really looked confident to chase down 201. They lost wickets at regular intervals. Nadeem and Sandeep bowled brilliantly. Taking some pace off the ball worked for the bowlers with Nadeem claiming 2 wickets and Sandeep troubling the batsman on every ball. Surjit bowled very well and kept batsmen on their toes.

Sandeep, Jaideep and Nadeem took brilliant diving catches. Their fielding dented the confidence of Cavs’ batsmen. This was a great start to the season with everyone giving their best and playing with full energy.
