Match report
Another tough game for Glenmore I against our old but normally beaten rivals Cavalliers. Cavalliers won the toss and elected to bat. Both their openers got starts with 24 and 25 but Glenmore fought back to have them 3 wickets down for 65. Cavs then put on a 100 run partnership between Vinay (70) and Adit (53). Unfortunately for Glenmore these two batsmen were the recipients of multiple dropped catches and other chances. Salt was poured into Glenmores open and festering wound with quick fire 30's from Kapil and Raquan as well as a smoking 50 from Abhjeet. The only real bright spark for Glenmore was a hattrick for Glenn MacDonald the first in his cricketing life and a wicket each for Nadeem, Harminder and Pasha and 2 for Mark Simpson who was unlucky to miss out on two more. Vikas was the pick of the fielders with 2 catches and a run out and Mark Simpson took 2 catches including one off his own bowling and Jonathan with one catch.
341 is a massive task and Glenmore despite an early loss tried to build partnerships with Vikas (23), Trevor (17), Farooq (23) and Ravinder (28) all contributing. Alas Jonathan who made a handy 52 couldnt push onto a big score and Glenmore for the second game in a row fell more than 100 runs short.
Lots of positives to take from the game and an improvement in fielding will no doubt hold Glenmore in good stead for future battles.
