Match report Taverners batted fairly well to get 122 for 7 off 15 overs. Again playing with 3 substitutes. Good 'at bats' by Trevor and Mike. supported by 15 runs from Anuraj and a maximum 15 from substitute Wajahat.With four batsmen out for ducks
United got off to a terrific start scoring 25 runs from the first over, followed by a 1st wicket partnership of 56 from Imtiaz and Muzafarah in 3 overs. Taverners were on their heels. However the enforced retirement of Muzafarah was capitalised upon by Taverners who then took 6 quick wickets for 19 runs, including that of Imtiaz on 29, and that provided some chance of reversing the tables on United II. However Farooq and Tariq stood their ground and with some determined batting put on a partnership of 22. Farooq was dismissed on 16, and with 3.5 overs left United needed 6 runs to win, which they secured when the scored the winning run from a wide.
A typical game of Monday cricket with both sides missing opportunities to take wickets thru dropped catches. although some terrific catches were made by both sides. Had Farooq been given out stumped when only on single figures, would the result have been different. Definitely a game of 'what if', and an exciting game at that.
