Bantrel CC v Glenmore Cricket Club Glenmore Taverners on Fri 19 Aug 2005 at 18:00
Glenmore Cricket Club Won 8 wickets in 7.6 overs

Match report Due to holidays Taverners found themselves short of players and invited the 3 member Executive to play with them. Pasha and Nadeem, were eligible as they were not registered for any other Monday team, and Ravin played under substitute conditions as he is registered with Titan. Bantrell won the toss and chose to bat, with Taverners starting the game with only 8 players, Skipper, "PA" John Farley, set an attacking field which produced fast results. Nadeem opened the bowling with Pasha, both off a much shorter run than they are used to, with Pasha using spin in the last of his 3 overs. After 5 overs Taverners had 10 men. Pasha's first over of spin produced a wicket off his first ball. Wickets fell quickly for Bantrell with 4 run outs, with smart fielding from Ravin and 'Smiley' Shawn Schonken.
Sayeed and Manoj being the only batsmen to make double figures. Pasha dropped two catches off 'Big Slim' Rudi Nemai, who then clean bowled two batsmen. and "Pee Dee" Sing picked up the last two wickets including a fine stumping by 'Stumpy' Defreitas. Good supporting bowling by Gurdeep Samra ( a fairly unknown 19 year old) aided in keeping Bantrel down to 64 all out off 13.6 overs.
Nadeem 3 overs 12 runs 0 wickets, Pasha 3 /16/2, Mike 1.6/8/2, Gurdeep 3/8/0, Rudi 3/11/2

'Stumpy' Trevor Defreitas opened with substitute Ravin Moorthy, with Stumpy in fine attacking form. Ravin was out of his fifth ball for 2 runs, bowled by Rajeesh and Smiley joined Stumpy who between them put on a partnership of 45 before Trevor retired 33 not out. Shawn was joined by Rudi who was quickly caught by Chetan of the bowling of Manoj. Smiley then went on to make 18 not out, with Gurdeep not out for 0 to make the winning runs
Taverners scored their 65 runs off 7.6 overs
Imtiaz 2 /20/0, Rajeesh 2/14/1, Bhavin 2/11/0, Nathan 1/15/0, Manoj 0.5/3/1

this was a terrific example of the way midweek cricket at Riley should be played.
Bantrell were absolute gentlemen, Taverners played in the same manner as they always do, for fun with lots of laughs
Everyone accepted Umpire Spencer Goodens decisions, and the SPIRIT OF THE GAME was complied with to its fullest extent, and some fine team spirit
Special thanks to young CM of Churchill for also acting as a sub for Taverners
