Glenmore Cricket Club - Team Formats

 

On this page we will try to help you decide on the best format for you by giving insight into the different skill levels, how long a match may last, days and times when the matches are played and levels of seriousness/dedication required. There will also be detail on equipment provided for you by the club and what you will need to provide yourself.



Glenmore Cricket Club participate in 3 different formats of the game within Calgary and District Cricket League (C&DCL) :


 


WEEKNIGHT CRICKET

   

  • Most relaxed format

  • Glenmore C.C. enter 3 teams into this league – Glenmore Taverners, Glenmore Royals and Glenmore Blues

  • 20 overs per side

  • Matches last up to 3 hours (plus optional post match visit to a bar)

  • Played on Monday or Friday (or both) evenings

  • Games start at 6:00pm PROMPT. Play-offs and finals may be required to start earlier (5:30pm) at the end of the season due to deminishing light conditions

  • Good entry point to competetive cricket if new to the game or have not played for some time

  • Played with a red ball

  • White uniform which you will be required to purchase from Glenmore Cricket Club

  • Batting pads, gloves, bats, helmets provided from the Glenmore Team Kit or you are welcome to bring your own. Details on purchasing equipment are at the bottom of this page

  • You will need your own box / cup for protection of sensitive body parts


T20 COMPETITION




  • Competetive cricket, play to win (you’re still allowed to enjoy the best game in the world whilst winning though, eh!)

  • Glenmore C.C. enter 2 teams into this competition – T20 1st XI and T20 2nd XI

  • 20 overs per side

  • Matches last up to 3 hours

  • Played on weekends over a 6 week period, either Saturday or Sunday, morning or afternoon

  • Good to Very Good level of skill required from experienced players

  • Played with a white ball

  • Blue uniform which you will be required to purchase from Glenmore Cricket Club

  • Batting pads (must be blue in colour or have blue covers), gloves, bats, helmets provided from the Glenmore Team Kit or you are welcome to bring your own. Details on purchasing equipment are at the bottom of this page

  • You will need your own box / cup for protection of sensitive body parts


WEEKEND CRICKET

   

  • Competetive cricket, play to win (you’re still allowed to enjoy the best game in the world whilst winning though, eh!)

  • Glenmore enter 3 teams in to this competition - 1st XI (Glenmore’s elite level of players make it to this team), 2nd XI and 3rd XI

  • 50 over per side for the 1st XI games and 35 overs per side for the 2nd and 3rd XI

  • 1st XI (50 overs) games last up to 8 hours, 2nd XI and 3rd XI (35 overs) games last up to 6 hours

  • Played on weekends, either Saturday or Sunday and sometimes on a holiday

  • 50 over games start at 10:00am

  • 35 over games start at either 9:30am or 2:30pm

  • Good to ELITE level of skill required from experienced to highly experienced players

  • Played with a white ball

  • Blue uniform which you will be required to purchase from Glenmore Cricket Club

  • Batting pads (must be blue in colour or have blue covers), gloves, bats, helmets provided from the Glenmore Team Kit or you are welcome to bring your own. Details on purchasing equipment are at the bottom of this page

  • You will need your own box / cup for protection of sensitive body parts
