NAME: Greg Desbrow
NICKNAMES: Gregor, Greggie, Fish n Chips, Rodney
AGE: Still the right side of 40.
CLUBS PLAYED FOR: Sanderstead CC juniors (where my captain was Nick Moss and coach for one year was Peter Moss...brother and father of a certain Kate Moss) and Kings College Hospital Beer XI.
GLENMORE DEBUT: At Westwinds in 2014.
BATTING STYLE: RH very straight.
BOWLING STYLE: I started with anything that came out which most times I didn't know what is was...this season bowling some leg spin which is working out well for me.
PREFERRED FIELDING POSITION: Fielding is my strongest area of the game so I like to be involved normally that would be in the covers but in weeknight the boundary gets busy.
CAREER BEST SCORE / GLENMORE BEST SCORE: 38 / Glenmore best 28.
BEST MOMENT FOR GLENMORE: Fielding when Wayne Lingard played a shot into the covers and saw his bat break in half....tried really hard not to laugh.
BEST PLAYER YOU’VE PLAYED WITH: David Sales who went onto play for Northampton and England B. He thought he could play football as well...he won the cricket but I won the football.
FAVOURITE GROUNDS: Kennington Oval
LEAST FAVOURITE GROUND: Martindale - only played there once but my bowling went to pieces and then Neil Wildgust ran me out without facing.
BEST THING ABOUT GLENMORE CC: The kids program and the social.
IDEAS TO HELP THE CLUB: Obtain our own ground or gain control of an existing ground.
ALL TIME FAVOURITE CRICKETER: Ian Botham...always seemed to have fun.
OTHER SPORTING HEROES: Steve Coppell, Geoff Thomas.
GOALS FOR 2016: Bowl consistently well. Keep improving, keep away from the duck walk.
BIGGEST INFLUENCE IN CRICKET: In the UK probably my Dad. In Canada Wayne Lingard for dragging me into Glenmore then Martyn Challoner for walking me through some technical points on batting which means I am no longer the walking wicket I was in 2014.
FAVOURITE FOOD: Prime rib.
FAVOURITE DRINK: Used to be a nice Carlsberg but as I get older, Old Speckled Hen is the go to.
FAVOURITE FILM: Platoon
FAVOURITE MUSIC: Rock.
WHAT’S WORSE, A DROPPED CATCH OR A DUCK: I haven't had the pleasure of the Taverners duck walk and it is something I want to stay away from so a duck.
