Glenmore I vs Patriots - 07/06/10

07 Jun 2010

Another character building game for Glenmore I on the weekend losing to Patriots by over 100 runs. Glenmore lost the toss and fielded first. Good contributions with the ball included Harminder who took 4 wickets, Ravinder who took 3 in 1 over, Ram who took 2 from his 10 and Anil who picked up 1. Glenn also bowled extremely well with very economical figures and was unlucky to miss out with at least 3 missed opportunities including dropped catches and a potential stumping. 10 dropped catches in all gave Patriots far too much impetus and they finished with 265. So many balls dropped tantalizingly close to fielders as on the whole the Patriot batters continued to swing for the fences. Sometimes things just don't go your way :-)

Glenmore unfortunately had the worst start that I have ever witnessed since joining the club and were 4/7 almost within as many overs. On a brighter note however Ram was the pick of the batting with a good knock of 50 especially taking toll of several friendly free hits offered by Kamil during his spell. Ram batted with patience and determination and was the bright spark in an otherwise less than inspiring batting display. Mark Simpson also batted really well with the tail and finished 32 not out and Bilal was very patient for a solid 24 along with Ravinder who had a decent start with 17.

Certainly a lot to build on for the future. I'm sure that as the season progresses the team will come together more as we get to know our strengths and weaknesses.

Look forward to seeing you out on the field for our next game against Cavaliers II on the 26th June.
