THIS WEEKEND sees the start of our 2023 cricket season and thankfully the forecast is looking good. The Glenmore Braves (formerly our 1st XI) kick things off with an early start at Westwinds on Saturday morning. Manav Attri will lead the side for the first time and will be looking to get off to a winning start against Cavaliers.
1pm at Westwinds on Saturday the Glenmore Knights (formerly our 2nd XI) will face Crescent Stars in a repeat of their 2022 play-off final. That day Crescent Stars were victorious, but a stronger looking Glenmore team will be confident of reversing that result.
The Braves and Knights will be facing off against each other on Wednesday evening in a classic Glenmore vs Glenmore battle. The Weather Network tells me it's going to be a scorcher, so why not get along to Martindale to support the teams and enjoy the first shoots of Summer.
We wish both our teams all the best for Saturday, Wednesday and the whole season.
Remember you can follow along with the match progress on the live scoring feature on the C&DCL app.
DURING THE OFF SEASON we have welcomed a number of new members to the club. DON'T FORGET ABOUT our Summer social events; the club Golf Day on June 10th and our Lawn Bowls day on July 15th. Details were sent out yesterday. I'm sure both events will be great fun. If you want to sign up please send the entry fee to glenmorecc@gmail.com as soon as possible. Friends and family are welcome to join in as well.
A date for the club Summer BBQ will be chosen soon also, making it a packed calendar for Summer social events. Please try to get involved with as many as you can.
A BIG THANK YOU to everyone who has been attending and helping out with our indoor net sessions since January. Every week has been extremely well attended, which has been great to see. Thanks to everyone who has helped set up or take down the nets. It is not a particularly fun job so if you've been up a ladder this Winter we appreciate your help! Special thanks to Daniel Paul and Hari Venkat who have been bringing the team kits back and forth each week. We do have a few more weeks of nets to go so hope to see you all there again soon.
IF YOU DON'T ALREADY do so, please remember to follow Glenmore CC on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and YouTube. Ahad Bhaidani is our new Social Media coordinator and will be posting regularly on our platforms. You can help him out by sending him photos/videos from our games throughout the season. His number is; (825)365-3935.
ANYONE WHO BOUGHT items from the club shop recently should have their orders within the next week or two. The shipment will be sent to Alex. He will pass the items on as soon as possible. Thanks to everybody who ordered from Kukri this time around.
FINALLY, we want to wish all our members a very enjoyable, successful season. Glenmore CC is a special club here in Calgary, and we pride ourselves on sportsmanship, respecting our opponents and umpires, and playing with a smile on our faces. Please follow these principles on and off the field, enjoy the successes of your clubmates and it will make for a fun, memorable Summer for us all.
