Good evening one and all. I hope this finds you, and your family and friends around the globe, safe and well.
By now we have come to terms that for the foreseeable future we will be staying home, trying to fill our time as best we can. Well, Glenmore CC is here to help, with a number of cricket related suggestions for you. We will also be sending out details of some club activities which could be fun (virtual quiz night, charity run, etc), so keep your eyes peeled for some of those.
For now though, here are some ideas and resources for you to kill some hours with. Enjoy!
- Any self respecting cricket fan should be familiar with the incredible work of The Twelfth Man. His many cricket comedy albums, in which he impersonates all the famous Australian commentators, is the perfect stuff to listen to while working from home. I have added all the albums to Dropbox. Here is the link to access them all.
- The Test (on Amazon Prime) - A fantastic behind-the-scenes documentary series following the Australian cricket team as they try to recover from despair in South Africa to Ashes glory in England. Get yourself an Amazon Prime account (or a free month trial) to enjoy this superb show.
- YouTube is packed full of great stuff, and all these pages are showing live replays or uploading game highlights. Here are some of the best channels to check out;
West Indies Cricket
England Cricket
Cricket Australia
Lord's Cricket Ground
CE Cricket Highlights
- Sky Sports in the UK has been adding some good content recently, including some 'Lockdown Video Podcasts' The best of these so far has been an hour long interview with Shane Warne. Have a look here.
- You may want this down time to spend hours at home practicing some drills or shadow batting in front of the mirror. So, if you're looking for some coaching advice and some good tips to improve your game, check out this fantastic channel which is packed full of great coaching videos.
- Maybe you want to brush up on your knowledge of the Laws of the game in readiness for when you umpire some games. Everything you need to know can be found on the MCC website here.
Hopefully that's enough to keep you busy for the time being. More details about some club events and activities to follow soon.
Stay safe, and get your bat oiled ready for when we eventually emerge to play cricket again.
Best wishes,
Alex Storey
