Glenmore Cricket Club - Player Profile - Matt Honywood

PLAYER PROFILE - MATT HONYWOOD
FULL NAME â€“ Matthew Alexander John Honywood

NICKNAME(S) -  I can’t repeat the names Jody calls me.

AGE -  46

CLUBS PLAYED FOR â€“ Freemans Reach CC (Australia), Beacon CC (England), Glenmore CC (Canada)

GLENMORE CC DEBUT â€“ June 2001

BATTING STYLE –  Right hand although I have a feeling looking back on my career that I may actually be left handed.

BOWLING STYLE â€“ Awfully unorthodox right handed reverse googly’s.

PREFERRED FIELDING POSITION -  Slips or gully.

CAREER BEST SCORE / GLENMORE BEST SCORE â€“ 74* / 31*  (I know, see Batting Style)

CAREER BEST BOWLING FIGURES / GLENMORE BEST BOWLING FIGURES – 4 for 16 / 3 for 17 (No, it wasn’t against the kids! My figures weren’t that good against them)

BEST CRICKETING MOMENT(S) â€“ Playing my first game with Jordan and Joshua. It’s just a shame the day was spoilt by me nearly breaking Josh’s leg with a straight drive.

BEST MOMENT(S) FOR GLENMORE CC â€“ Captaining the Blues Team this year. I am very excited for these young players to continue their cricketing journey.

BEST PLAYER YOU'VE PLAYED WITH – I don’t know, I played with some good Pro’s in England! The best player I never played with was Don Bradman.

WHAT'S A WORSE FEELING, DROPPING A CATCH OR GETTING A DUCK? â€“ I’ll let you know when one happens.

FAVOURITE GROUND(S) – SCG, St Ives Cricket Ground Cornwall and in Calgary, Westwinds.

LEAST FAVOURITE GROUND(S) – Trent Bridge (Good grief I thought I’d repressed those memories) and in Calgary, Riley Park.

BEST THING ABOUT GLENMORE CC – The people!

ONE THING YOU WOULD CHANGE ABOUT CALGARY CRICKET – I would improve the quality of the cricket grounds.

IDEAS TO HELP THE CLUB – I have a few but the major one would be getting our own ground and clubhouse. We are well on the way to developing our Juniors so having a future for them is very important.

ALL TIME FAVOURITE CRICKETER -  Steve Waugh

OTHER SPORTING HEROES â€“ Alan Shearer, Les Ferdinand, Jarome Iginla, John Eales, Steve Mortimer and anyone who has ever worn the baggy green (yes even Peter Taylor!).

GOALS FOR THE 2016 SEASON – Score more runs than Jordan while I still can!

BIGGEST INFLUENCE IN CRICKET â€“ Richie Benaud and The 12th Man

FAVOURITE FOOD -  Guinness

FAVOURITE DRINK â€“ Newcastle Brown Ale

FAVOURITE MUSIC â€“ Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers

FAVOURITE FILM â€“ The Princess Bride. How can you beat a movie that has fencing, fighting, torture, revenge, giants, monsters, chases, escapes, true love and miracles.

ANYTHING ELSE TO ADD – 2 + 2 = 4
